About the event

Group Therapy is our intermediate restoration event for volunteers who've previously attended our introductory event, SuperChill Saturdays. Volunteers should already know how to identify invasive species and plant native species.

To refresh, PLEASE watch the required video: Touch Plants 101

We will meet at the Niu Valley Shopping Center main parking lot near 7-Eleven (Bring a mask to carpool).

Parking: We are asking, if possible, to please park at the shopping center and carpool to Anolani Street to minimize traffic, noise, and crowding. Please be respectful to our neighbors, keep voices down, and don't block the turnaround in the cul de sac, their trash bins, or mailboxes.

If you are parking on Anolani, please park across the street from the houses.

Annual Liability Waiver form must be completed before arrival (once a year)

Liability Waiver Link: https://waiver.fr/p-aKgCw

What to bring:

– SHOES ARE REQUIRED.

– Clothing that can get dirty (long-sleeve shirt and pants highly recommended).

– Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

– Reusable water bottle(s) and plenty of water (1/2 gallon recommended).

– Snacks and any medications needed.

– Rain jacket (in case of inclement weather).

Please Note: There are no bathrooms at the site. Participants will need to trek in the bushes or drive to the nearest bathroom at Kawaikui Beach Park.

TOOLS: All community tools and gloves have been sanitized. We will provide tools and gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own.

ACTIVITIES: A short hike into Pia Valley for a brief talk with our guest speaker. Then, we'll switch to the restoration work of clearing grasses and small branches and planting/watering native seedlings. Risks include uneven terrain, loose soil, hot/rainy/windy weather conditions, and chances of landslides or falling boulders.
