Join us in Pia Valley for a special guest talk by Dr. Eric VanderWerf, followed by weeding and native outplanting. Eric is passionate about Hawaiian and Pacific bird conservation, leading numerous forest bird and seabird recovery and management projects since his career in Hawaiʻi began in 1999.

About the event
Eric is the founder, Executive Director, and Director of Science for Pacific Rim Conservation. He has worked on a variety of conservation and ornithological projects in Hawaii and the Pacific during stints with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Hawaii Division of Forestry and Wildlife from 1999-2006. Eric founded Pacific Rim Conservation in 2006 because he saw a need for science-based management projects focusing on Hawaiian and Pacific birds. He has authored over 150 scientific papers, book chapters, government documents, and technical reports.
