Meet at East Baseyard

Ka'ala is the highest peak on Oʻahu and the wettest area in the Waiʻanae Mountains. What makes Kaʻala ec We'll start with a ginger sweep and end with an exploration tour of Mauna o Kaʻala. Ginger sweeps are a specialized task, where we will be walking in transects targeting kahili ginger in the bog.

About the event

What to expect:

Meet Jenna Patague at ANRPO's East Baseyard. The address is 1480 Higgins Rd., Building 1595.

For the mālama portion of our day, we will focus on removing kahili ginger in the bog. If left unchecked,

these aggressive weeds could greatly alter the native vegetation. After our mālama portion, we will walk

the boardwalk and if there is time, we will view a wild kāhuli population.
