About the event
What to expect:
Meet Jenna Patague at ANRPO's East Baseyard. The address is 1480 Higgins Rd., Building 1595.
Our day will be a two-part series, starting with a ginger sweep and ending with an exploration tour of Mauna o Kaʻala. Ginger sweeps are a specialized task, where we will be walking in transects targeting kahili ginger (Hedychium gardnerianum) within the bog. Volunteers are expected to be able to hike in difficult terrain and in variable weather conditions.
What to bring:
– ANRPO will provide gear (weeding tools and footwear, if needed). If volunteers choose not to use spiked tabis, they will need to bring a pair of good hiking shoes.
– Clothing that can get dirty (long-sleeve shirt and pants are highly recommended!!)
